Connor's driver's license

We got home from the family reunion and Connor had his driving test. We had him drive in Salt Lake to have him get use to the traffic. He passed with flying colors. Now we just need to get a car for him to drive.

Concussion

While "watching" Alexia's lacrosse game, (I'm usually keeping score.) I got a call from Connor's phone. I thought it was him saying his game was done. Oh, NO. It was a parent letting me know he had just received a concussion. The second of the season. UGH!! He went up for a ball and got speared. He was confused enough that he needed help getting off the field. So I packed up the dog and went to get him to go to the hospital. The next day he couldn't remember where his locker was or the combination. So he will be out for about a week.

Tablerock Lacrosse Tournament

Connor's first high school lacrosse game. This is a pre-season tournament. He is playing as a long stick midfielder. This is a change for him from defense in the past years. He hasn't quite got the size at this level for now, but he has speed. He's not happy about a new number (8) but everyone else decided to use it too. Alexia and Trevor are 8's.

Connor's Bday

This is the cake that one of Connor's girl friends made for his "surprise" birthday party.

Appendicitis?

Connor woke up at around midnight on Wednesday complaining of stomach pain. James didn't think it was appendicitis.

The story came out that while he was at the park, a boy had found a box of idaho spuds in the garbage can. They decided that they would be OK to eat. So Connor ate one. So I thought that he had food poisoning.

We offered a blessing and the pain went away and we went to bed.

By the next morning he had started vomiting. So we had him stay home and try to keep hydrated. He started acting a little better by evening. At least he could keep some liquid down.

Friday morning the pain was a little more intense. He couldn't keep anything down. He hadn't really gone to the bathroom for about a day. With James being gone and the weekend coming, I didn't want to get stuck with something bad. HAHA I got an appointment at the Micron clinic to check things out. Once they established a timeline and checked him over (10 minutes), I was on our way to the hospital with appendicitis.

Once in the ER, we found out an allergic reaction to pain meds, so they went straight for morphine. The on-call surgeon didn't want to operated on him because he was a minor. The pediatric doctor on call was on her second appendectomy. So we were going to have to wait our turn.

Finally at 7pm, he was being rolled into the O.R. and dying for food. They do the operation laparoscopically. In through the belly button and then two smaller cut in the groin. The surgeon came and then told us that it had ruptured and would need two more days in the hospital for antibiotics. Going through the timeline again, we determined that it had probably ruptured Thursday night because he was feeling slightly better. He didn't have a tempurature until we got to the hospital when the infection started to set in.

So we spent the next two days in the hospital, Connor still dying for REAL food. James missed it all. He have several visitors and was able to learn more about the medical field.

Connor was having a hard time during summer school and travel lacrosse. His heart was racing, problems breathing, and chest hurting every time we worked out. So we went to a heart specialist and we had to hook him up to a heart monitor for 24 hours. Family history doesn't look to good.

I turns out he has sports induced asthama. He now has an inhaler to use before he works out.

All Idaho LAX

Connor made the travel team for U15 Lacrosse. He was suppose to go to Park City, but due to miscommunication at the league level, they decided to go to Denver. I would include a clinic with some top coaches. They practiced for several hours, 6 days a week for 3 weeks to get ready. James helped coach.

They played three games on Saturday and on Sunday. They were decimated on Saturday's games. On Sunday it was better, they did win the last game against a team from Texas.

Lacrosse

We made it through another season.

Anna played Junior Varsity for Bishop Kelly High school. She played defense and the team won the state championship.

Connor finished his last year in the youth league, U-15 as a long pole defenseman. He had a desent year. He did make the travel team and will be going to Denver. James coach again this year for Connor's team and will be helping on the travel team.

Alexia had her 2nd year playing. She played home position (offense). She got pretty good, and almost score a goal every game.

Boys HIGH Adventures

As I mentioned in our Seattle trip, the James, Mikah and Connor went on a backpacking trip to the White Clouds near Salmon, Idaho. They did come back to me in one piece and in relatively good spirits.

They hiked in and did base camping. James made tarp tents for them to sleep in and planned all the menus. They hiked to 11,000 ft. James did have some trouble with the altitude. It was the Chapmans, Szuchs (Nate, Eli and Jacob), Evan Huntsman and Jerry Lister. Great weather and beautiful country.

Back to School

We made it back to school, with minor shuffling. YEEAAAHH!!

Mikah is a Junior with a job as a buser at the Country Club, taking an online class, Orchestra and three advanced classes. Connor is in eight grade, running cross country and yearbook. And taking two advanced classes. Alexia is in fourth grade and Trevor in second grade.

Lacrosse

Another season has come and gone. What will I do with all my free time. Both Alexia and Connor played and James coached. Schedules didn't conflict too much except for games. James made it to the last part of one of her games. She played on the U13 club because they didn't have enough U11. (under 13, under 11) Eventhough she was the shortest, she scored one goal and two assists for the season. They won four games and came together really well by the end of the season. Connor's team on the other hand, let's just say that it was a building year. They won one game. Connor has found a position that he likes, defenseman or long pole.

School schedules

We recently had to do school schedules for Connor and Mikah. This was a major undertaking, it was never this hard when I was in high school. Mikah decided he wanted to take choir now. He has to tryout to see if they will take him. If he makes it, he will have 0 hour class to seventh hour. Connor on the other hand, wanted to take Spanish because his friends were taking it. These are the same friends that talked him into Home Ec, excuse me, Young Living. I told him he needed to take choir. They were having yearbook tryouts, so he asked if he could drop choir if he got a position. Sure, you get on yearbook and you can drop choir. Well, he got on yearbook staff. Yea, Connor!!

Lacrosse

Connor finished up his last game of the season. This was his fifth season playing the game. James was able to help coach. The first three seasons (spring, fall, spring) was with the YMCA and was not full contact. Last year, started league lacrosse. He's got 'MAD' ball handling skills and continually improving.

The first year in league, his team may have scored one goal the whole season. This year they won two out of the eight game season, and they were really in the hunt for all but two. He also scored a total of five goals, three in one game. They lost the tournament game and Connor was really upset. It was really hot to be playing at 11:00 am.

Alexia has shown an interest and we will be having her try it on for size this summer at a summer camp.
